Aberdeen concluded their pre-season tour of Austria today as Mark McGhee’s first game in charge of the Dons ended in a 1-0 defeat against German Second division side 1860 Munich.
As expected, McGhee lined up in his customary 4-3-3 formation, with Richard Foster at right back, Charlie Mulgrew on the left and Zander Diamond and Andy Considine forming the central defensive partnership. The midfield three were Gary McDonald, Mark Kerr and Stuart Duff. Lee Miller was joined by Sone Aluko and Chris Maguire in the Aberdeen attack. Reda Johnson, the trailist McGhee has been assessing this week made an appearance in the second half.
Jose Holebas scored the only goal of the game just before half time.
The Dons will now return to Scotland to prepare for their next 2 friendlies against Peterhead (on Wednesday) and Dundee (Saturday). Their last pre-season fixture will be Dean Windass’ testimonial game, when McGhee takes his charges to Hull.
