Have to say that to have better facilities across the board from SPL down to Third Division and the HFL would cost the SFL, SPL, HFL and the SFA a considerable amount of money in the region of millions, especially to get surfaces to deal with our climate - and the only surface that I know of at the moment that can stand up to very cold temperatures are astro-turf pitches - such as what is in Russia - ie. Spartak Moscow ground. But that is too dangerous at times for players and many clubs dont like these anyway.

So to beat the bad weather be it frost, high winds/gale force and heavy rain- the only option is to have a winter break from beginning of december to end of january to try and get most of the bad weather out of the road before the footie starts up again. Other option is Summer Football but that has been discussed and thrown out already - plus our summer probably has more rain than in our winter anyway.
